The Craftsmanship Behind the Tea – A Generational Heritage

Master Jia Genshe follows a time‑honored, all‑natural process that takes 4 to 5 years from raw leaf to finished brick. Every step is done by hand, without artificial accelerants.

1. Raw Material Selection & Blending
High‑quality dark tea leaves from Anhua, Hunan, are manually sorted, chopped, and sifted. Different grades are blended according to a secret family recipe to ensure a consistent, balanced flavour base.

2. The Core Secret – “Brewing the Tea Glaze” (Ao You)
A special aged tea, tea fruits, and well water are simmered for up to 12 hours until a thick concentrate is extracted. This is mixed with a portion of “old glaze” (acting as a natural starter) – a unique Jingyang technique that creates the tea’s signature mellow taste and distinctive fungal aroma.

3. Hand‑Pressing & Molding
Each brick is precisely weighed, then stir‑fried with the glaze in a hot iron wok. The softened tea is poured into paper molds and pounded firmly with a wooden hammer – 100–120 heavy strokes and 50–80 light strokes. The brick is then tied, vented with small air channels, and undergoes the “Three Turns & Three Pours” rule: frequent turning over the first three years to promote even fermentation and oxygenation.

4. “Golden Flora” Development (Fa Hua)
The pressed bricks are placed in a climate‑controlled room for 10–20 days, where beneficial golden‑coloured fungi (Eurotium cristatum) naturally grow inside the brick. This “Golden Flora” is unique to Fu Tea and contributes to its smooth, earthy taste and health benefits.

5. Long‑Term Aging
After flowering, the bricks are air‑dried for at least 3 years, then transferred to wooden warehouses for another 2 years of slow oxidation, experiencing all four seasons. Only after this 4‑ to 5‑year cycle is the tea ready – and our product has been further aged for approximately 15 years, resulting in an exceptionally deep and complex character.

How to Brew

Boil: 1:20 tea/water, boil 2 min, steep 3–5 min.
Steep (gaiwan/pot): 1:25–30, rinse first, steep 1–2 min.
Thermos: 1:20, fill with boiling water, wait 8–10 min.
